Steps to Access MySQL Error Logs

MySQL error logs can often be used to determine the source of crashes, slowdowns, and other unexpected behavior. On Ubuntu computers, the default location of MySQL is /var/log/mysql/error.log. The lessprogram, a command-line tool that lets you view files but not alter them, is the easiest way to read error logs in a number of situations:

sudo less /var/log/mysql/error.log

If MySQL is acting differently, you can use this command to identify the error based on the contents of the log and learn more about the source of the problem.
