How to disable WordPress plugin updates using PHP

When there are plugin updates, WordPress finds them automatically and prompts the user to install them. Updates to plugins might remove any developer-customized code. To avoid inadvertent plugin upgrades, developers thus prefer to have the plugin updates disabled. This article demonstrates how to use a PHP function to prevent plugin upgrades.

Disabling Plugin Updates

Prior to making any modifications to the theme files, always make a backup. It will be simpler to restore your website to its most recent known form if you violate any codes. As an alternative, you may make a child theme.

Follow the steps below to edit your Theme setting file to disable plugin updates  in WordPress:

1. Log in to your WordPress site with an administrator account.
2. On the Dashboard in the left sidebar, click Appearance, and then click Theme Editor:
3. On the Theme Editor , select the Theme you want to edit from the dropdown:
   
4. The files for this selected theme are listed on the right column under Theme Files. Click on the file named “functions.php”:
   
5. Insert the following code to the end of functions.php file and click Update File button to save the changes:
