How to Log In to n8n

What is n8n?

n8n is a tool that links apps together and does jobs for you automatically. For example, it can save every new form entry into a spreadsheet. Each set of jobs is called a workflow. A workflow is like a list of tasks that run in order.

If you run n8n on your own server, you open it through a web address.

Find your n8n address

Your address is usually one of these:

• A domain name set up for n8n, such as https://n8n.yourdomain.com.
• Your server's IP address and port 5678, such as http://YOUR-SERVER-IP:5678. A port is like a numbered door into your server.

If you are not sure, check the message from the person who set n8n up. You can also ask Hostvento support.

Steps for your first login

1. Open your browser.
2. Type your n8n address into the address bar and press Enter.
3. On a new install, n8n shows a setup form for an owner account.
4. Enter your email, first name, last name and a password.
5. Click the button to create the account. Write the password down somewhere safe.

Steps for later logins

1. Open your n8n address.
2. Enter your email and password on the sign-in page.
3. Click Sign in.
4. You now see your workflows.

If you forget your password

1. On the sign-in page, click Forgot my password.
2. Enter your email and send the request.
3. Open the email and follow its link. This only works if email sending is set up in n8n.

If email is not set up, ask the person who manages the server to reset the password for you.

The page does not open

• Check that you typed the address correctly.
• Check that n8n is running on the server.
• If you use an IP address and port, check that the firewall allows port 5678.
