What does this mean?
When you buy hosting, a billing system such as WHMCS talks to the server. The billing system sends a message that says, "make a new account." If the server says no or does not answer, the billing system shows Account Creation Status: failed. Your hosting is not set up yet.
Do not panic. The order is not lost. The fix is often small.
Common causes
- The domain name already exists as an account on the server.
- The package name in the billing system does not match the package name in WHM. They must be spelled the same.
- The server is full or has no free IP address for the account.
- The billing system cannot connect to the server. A wrong password, a wrong server address or a firewall can cause this.
- The username chosen is too long, is already in use or has strange symbols.
- The server is busy, being updated or is down.
If you are a customer
- Log in to the client area at https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php.
- Open the Services menu and click My Services.
- Look at the status of your order. It may say Pending.
- Wait a few minutes, then refresh the page.
- If it is still not active, open a ticket at https://secure.hostvento.com/submitticket.php.
- Give your order number and domain name in the ticket.
If you run your own billing system
- Open the failed order in the billing admin area.
- Read the error text. It usually says what went wrong.
- Check Servers in the billing settings. Click Test Connection.
- Compare the package name with the name in WHM List Packages.
- Search the domain in WHM List Accounts to see if it already exists.
- Fix the problem and click Create on the service page to try again.
Tip: Do not click Create many times in a row. If the first try half worked, you may end up with a duplicate account.
Quick recap
- Failed means the billing system could not make the account on the server.
- Common causes are package name mismatch, duplicate domain or no connection.
- Customers should wait a little, then open a support ticket.
- Admins should read the error and test the server connection.
