What does it mean?
A host server is the computer where your website or account lives. A connectivity issue means your device, or another program, cannot talk to that server. The line between them is broken or blocked. It is like a phone call that will not connect.
You may see this in a browser, an email program, an FTP tool, or a plugin inside your site.
Common causes
- Your own internet is weak or off.
- The server is restarting or under maintenance.
- The server is very busy.
- A firewall blocks the connection. A firewall is a guard that allows or blocks traffic.
- The DNS is wrong or still changing. DNS is like a phone book that turns a name into a number.
- You typed the wrong server name or port in your program. A port is a numbered door on the server.
- Your IP address was blocked after too many wrong logins.
Steps to fix it
- Check that other websites open. If not, restart your router and try again.
- Try again after a few minutes. Short problems often fix themselves.
- Test from another device or network, such as your phone on mobile data.
- Check the host name and port you typed. Compare them with your welcome email.
- Turn off your VPN for a moment. A VPN is a tool that hides your location, and it can block some connections.
- Check your antivirus or firewall settings on your own computer.
- Run a ping test. Ping checks whether a server answers.
ping yourdomain.com
If you see replies, the server is reachable. If you see timeouts, something is blocking it. Replace yourdomain.com with your real domain.
- Check your account in the client area. Make sure the service is active.
- If it still fails, open a support ticket. Include the exact message, the time, and what you were doing.
Tip: Tell support your public IP address. It helps them see if your address was blocked. Search "what is my IP" in a browser to find it.
Quick recap
