Tip: Adobe Flash Player is old software. Adobe stopped supporting it at the end of 2020, and browsers have removed it. These steps are for computers that still have it. Newer tools work in a similar way.
What is Flash cache?
Flash Player was a plug-in that played games, videos and animations in a browser. A cache is a place where saved copies of data are kept so things load faster. Flash saved small files too, called Local Shared Objects. Sometimes old saved data causes a game or video to act strangely. Clearing it can help.
Method 1: Use the Settings Manager
- Open the Control Panel on Windows. You can search for "Flash Player" in the Start menu.
- Open Flash Player. A settings window opens.
- Click the Storage tab.
- Click Delete all.
- Tick Delete all site data and settings.
- Click Delete Data.
Method 2: Delete the folders by hand
Warning: Deleting the wrong folder can remove other files. Only delete the folders named below.
On Windows
- Close all browsers.
- Press the Windows key and the R key together.
- Type this and press Enter:
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
- Delete the files inside the folder named
#SharedObjects. - Delete the files inside the folder named
macromedia.com.
On Mac
- Close all browsers.
- In Finder, click Go, then Go to Folder.
- Type this path:
~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player
- Delete the contents of the
#SharedObjectsfolder and themacromedia.comfolder.
Also clear your browser cache
- Open your browser menu.
- Find Settings and then Privacy or Clear browsing data.
- Choose Cached images and files.
- Click Clear data.
Menu names vary a little between browsers, so look for words like "history" or "privacy".

- Clear it in the Flash Player Settings Manager, under Storage.
- You can also delete the Macromedia folders by hand, carefully.
- Flash is no longer supported, so move to modern formats when you can.
