Point 1: The server is overloaded
A server is the computer that holds your website. If it runs out of CPU (its brain power), memory or disk space, it gets slow, like a shop with too many customers.
- Log in to the client area at https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php.
- Open your service and check any usage or resource notices.
- In cPanel, look at the resource usage page if your plan has one.
- Check that your disk is not full.
Fixes: remove files you do not need, clean old emails, and ask Hostvento support if you may need a bigger plan.
Point 2: The website itself is heavy
Often the site is the problem, not the server.
- Big images: pictures of several megabytes slow every page. Shrink them before upload.
- Too many plugins: each plugin adds work. Remove ones you do not use.
- Old software: update WordPress, themes and plugins. Back up first.
- No caching: caching saves a ready copy of a page so it does not rebuild each time. Use a cache plugin.
- Old PHP version: a newer PHP is usually faster. Change it in cPanel under MultiPHP Manager, after a backup.
Point 3: Traffic, attacks or connection trouble
- Sudden visitors: a viral post can send more people than your plan handles.
- Bad bots: robots can hit your site again and again. Check your visitor logs for odd traffic.
- DNS problems: DNS is the phone book that turns your site name into a number. If it is wrong, the site seems down. Check your domain settings.
- Expired domain or hosting: look at the Domains and Services menus in the client area for expiry dates.
- Your own internet: test the site on a phone with mobile data.
Quick checks
- Open the site on another device and network.
- Try a free speed test website to see which part is slow.
- Turn off the newest plugin you added.
- If nothing helps, open a ticket at https://secure.hostvento.com/submitticket.php. Tell support the time, the page and any error text.
Tip: Fix one thing at a time. Then you know what helped.
Quick recap
- Cause 1: the server has too little CPU, memory or disk.
- Cause 2: the site has big images, many plugins or old software.
- Cause 3: traffic spikes, bots, DNS or expired services.
- Contact support with details if you are stuck.
