What is a web server?
A web server is a program that sends your web pages to visitors. When someone opens your site, the web server finds the page and sends it. Apache and Nginx are well-known ones. LiteSpeed is another.
What is LiteSpeed?
LiteSpeed Web Server, often shortened to LSWS, is made to serve pages quickly while using little server power. It comes in a paid edition and a free edition called OpenLiteSpeed.
Why people use it
- Speed. It handles many visitors at once.
- Apache friendly. The paid edition reads Apache settings, including
.htaccessfiles. These are small settings files kept in site folders. So moving from Apache is easy. - Built-in caching. A cache saves finished pages so they load faster next time. LiteSpeed has its own cache.
- Control panel support. It works with cPanel and other panels.
- Good for busy sites. It uses less memory per visitor.
LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress
If your server runs LiteSpeed, a free plugin called LiteSpeed Cache can make WordPress faster. A plugin is an add-on for your site. It only works fully when the server uses LiteSpeed. Ask Hostvento support if your plan runs LiteSpeed.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to Plugins, then Add New.
- Search for LiteSpeed Cache.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
- Open the plugin from the left menu and check that caching is turned on.
Take a backup before you add a new plugin. Some settings can change how pages look.

| Server | Notes |
|---|---|
