Move your website to Hostvento without downtime
A website moves in five steps. Visitors keep seeing the old copy until the new one is ready.
- Works for any cPanel account
- WordPress, PHP and static sites
- Email accounts move too
- Your domain can stay where it is registered
Five steps
- Order a plan. Keep the old hosting active for now.
- Take a backup. In the old cPanel, create a full backup, or download the files and export the database.
- Restore. Upload the files to the new account, import the database and update the configuration file with the new database details.
- Test. Open the site on the temporary address or with a hosts-file entry. Check forms, logins and images.
- Switch. Change the domain's nameservers to ours. Within a few hours visitors reach the new server.
Moving email
Create the same mailboxes on the new account before the switch. Copy old messages with an IMAP sync tool or by dragging folders between the two accounts in a mail program.
Moving WordPress
A migration plugin packs the whole site into one file that you import on the new account. For large sites, copy files and database by hand.

Migration questions
Will my site go offline?
No, if the old account stays active until the nameserver change has spread.
Do I have to transfer my domain?
No. Only the nameservers change. The registration can stay with your current registrar.
How long does it take?
A small site takes under an hour of work. The nameserver change then needs a few hours to spread.
