Create a phpinfo Page

This guide shows you how to make a small page that lists your PHP version and settings.

What is a phpinfo page?

PHP is the language that runs many websites. The phpinfo page is a report about PHP on your server. It shows the PHP version, loaded extensions, memory limits and more. Extensions are add-ons that give PHP extra skills.

Support teams and developers often ask for it when they look for a problem.

Steps

  1. Log in to your hosting control panel.
  2. Open File Manager.
  3. Go to your website folder. It is usually named public_html.
  4. Click + File.
  5. Name the file info.php and click Create New File.
  6. Right-click info.php and choose Edit.
  7. Type or paste this single line:
    <?php phpinfo(); ?>
    The line calls a built-in PHP function that prints the report.
  8. Click Save Changes and close the editor.
  9. Open a browser and go to https://yourdomain.com/info.php. Use your own domain name.

You will see a long page with purple and gray tables. That is the report.

How to read it

  • The top shows the PHP Version.
  • Press Ctrl+F to search the page. Try words like memory_limit, upload_max_filesize or curl.
  • The Loaded Configuration File line tells you which php.ini file is in use.
Important: Delete info.php when you are done. The page reveals private details that attackers can use. In File Manager, right-click the file and choose Delete.

If the page does not work

  • If the browser downloads the file or shows the code, PHP may not be active for that folder. Ask Hostvento support.
  • If you see a 404 error, check the file name and folder.
  • Make sure the file ends in .php and not .php.txt.

Quick recap

  • Create info.php in public_html.
  • Put <?php phpinfo(); ?> inside.
  • Open it in your browser.
  • Delete the file when finished.
