Create a Link That Lets Customers Leave a Google Review

This guide shows you how to get a direct link to your Google review box. You can send it by email, text or put it on your website.

How-To Guides2 min read6 steps

Reviews help new customers trust your business. But many happy customers never leave one, because it takes too many clicks. A direct link opens the review box at once. Fewer steps means more reviews.

What you need

  • A Google Business Profile. This is the free listing that shows your business on Google Search and Maps.
  • A Google account that manages the profile. Your profile must be verified. Verified means Google has confirmed that the business is yours.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages your business.
  2. Search for your business name on Google. As the owner, you will see a panel with your profile controls.
  3. Find the button named Ask for reviews or Get more reviews. Google changes the label from time to time.
  4. Click it. A box opens with a short link.
  5. Click Copy to copy the link. Some boxes also offer to share by email or text.
  6. Paste the link into a message to test it. Open it. It should show the review form for your business.

If you cannot find the button, open Google Maps, search for your business, and look for Share review form or similar. You can also open your profile in the Business Profile Manager.

  • Add it to emails you send after a sale.
  • Put it in a text message.
  • Make a button on your website. Use this code and swap in your link.
    <a href="YOUR-REVIEW-LINK">Leave us a review</a>
  • Print a QR code that points to the link. A QR code is a square picture that a phone camera can scan. Free QR code makers exist online.

Do it the right way

  • Ask for honest reviews. Do not pay for them.
  • Do not write reviews for your own business.
  • Reply to reviews, good or bad, with a kind message.
Tip: Customers need a Google account to leave a review. Mention this in your message so they are ready.

Quick recap

  • You need a verified Google Business Profile.
  • Search your business name and choose Ask for reviews.
  • Copy the link and test it.
  • Share it by email, text, website button or QR code.
