What is a CMS page?
Magento is a program for running an online shop. Besides products, a shop needs plain pages that tell visitors about the business. Magento calls these CMS pages. CMS means content management system, which is just a tool for handling content.
Create a page
- Log in to your Magento admin panel. This is the back office of your shop.
- Click Content in the left menu.
- Under Elements, click Pages.
- Click the Add New Page button at the top right.
- Switch Enable Page to Yes.
- Type a name in Page Title.
- Open the section Content. Type your text in the editor. You can use the Show / Hide Editor button to switch between visual and HTML view.
- Open Search Engine Optimization. In URL Key, type the web address ending, like
about-us. Use lowercase letters and dashes. - Open Page in Websites and choose the store view where the page should show.
- Open Design and choose a layout if you want. A layout decides how many columns the page has.
- Click Save Page.
Your page is now at your shop address followed by the URL key.
Edit a page
- Go to Content, then Pages.
- Find the page in the grid, which is the list on screen.
- In the Action column, click Select, then Edit.
- Make your changes and click Save Page.
Disable or delete a page
To hide a page without losing it, edit it and switch Enable Page to No. To remove it for good, choose Select, then Delete. Deleting cannot be undone, so copy your text somewhere safe first.
If you do not see your change
Magento keeps saved copies of pages to be fast. Go to System, then Cache Management. Click Flush Magento Cache. Then reload your page.
