What is the default country?
Drupal is a program for building websites. It lets you pick a default country. Some forms and add-ons use this value as the starting choice, for example in an address field. Setting it once saves your visitors from picking their country each time. It does not stop people from picking another one.
This setting sits next to the time zone settings. A time zone is the clock region you live in. Drupal uses the default country, the first day of the week and the time zone together as your regional settings.
Steps
- Log in to your Drupal site as an administrator.
- Click Configuration in the top toolbar.
- Find the group Regional and language.
- Click Regional settings.
- Look for the list named Default country.
- Open the list and choose your country. You can type the first letters to jump to it.
- While you are here, set First day of week to match your area.
- Also check Default time zone. Choose the zone where most of your visitors live.
- Scroll down and click Save configuration.
You can also reach the page by adding /admin/config/regional/settings to the end of your site address.
Check that it saved
- Reload the page.
- Look at the Default country list.
- It should show the country you picked.
If your site uses an address field or a shop add-on, open that form and check the starting country. Some add-ons have their own country setting. In that case, look in the add-on's settings too.
If the change does not show
