What is a blog in b2evolution?

b2evolution is free software for running websites. One b2evolution install can hold many blogs. Each blog has its own name, address, look and posts. Think of one building with many rooms. Newer versions call a blog a "collection", because it can also be a photo album or a forum. Menu names change slightly between versions.

Open the blog list

  1. Log in to your b2evolution admin area. It is usually your site address plus /login.php.
  2. Click Back-office if you are on the front page of the site.
  3. Click the Collections or Blogs tab.
  4. Click Settings or the blog list. You see every blog on your site.

Create a new blog

  1. In the blog list, click New blog (or New collection).
  2. Choose the type, such as Standard blog.
  3. Type a Title. This is the name visitors see.
  4. Type a Short name and a URL name. The URL name is the part of the web address that points to this blog.
  5. Choose a skin. A skin is a ready-made design for the blog.
  6. Click Save.

Change a blog

  1. In the blog list, find the blog.
  2. Click its name or the Edit icon.
  3. Use the tabs to change what you need: General, Features, Skin, Advanced and Permissions.
  4. Click Save after each change.

Add a post

  1. Choose your blog from the top menu.
  2. Click Posts and then Write a new post.
  3. Type a title and text.
  4. Click Publish!

Delete a blog

Warning: Deleting a blog also deletes its posts and comments. Take a backup first. You cannot undo this.
  1. Go to the blog list.
  2. Click the red Delete (trash) icon next to the blog.
  3. Read the warning and confirm.
Tip: To control who can write in a blog, use its Permissions tab. Set rights for each user or user group.
