What is the File Manager?
CMS Made Simple is software for building websites. Its File Manager is a tool inside the admin area. It lets you handle the files of your site without any special program. Think of it as a file cabinet for your website. You can add pictures, PDF files and other things, and then use them in your pages.
The File Manager is a module. If you do not see it, it may be switched off. You find modules under Extensions, then Module Manager.
Open the File Manager
- Log in to your admin area. The address is your site plus
/admin. - Click Content in the top menu.
- Click File Manager.
You see a list of folders and files. The main upload folder is called uploads. Pictures usually live in uploads/images.
Upload a file
- Open the folder where the file should go.
- Click the Choose File or Upload button.
- Pick the file on your computer.
- Click Open, then Submit if asked.
Very big files may fail to upload. Your hosting sets a size limit. Ask Hostvento support if you need to know it.
Make a new folder
- Find the Create a new directory box.
- Type a name. Use small letters and no spaces, such as
photos. - Click Create.
Rename, move or delete
- Tick the box next to a file or folder.
- Use the action drop-down or the buttons above the list. Choose Rename, Move, Copy or Delete.
- Confirm the action.
Use the file in a page
- Open a page in Content, then Content Manager.
- In the editor, click the image or link button.
- Choose your file from the list.
- Click Submit to save.

- Tick a file to rename, move or delete it.
