What is VirtueMart?
Joomla is a tool for building websites. VirtueMart is an add-on for Joomla that turns your website into an online shop. It records every order, so you can see how your shop is doing.
Screens vary a little between VirtueMart versions. Look for similar names if yours differ.
Open the dashboard
- Log in to your Joomla administrator panel.
- Click Components, then VirtueMart.
- You land on the Control Panel.
The control panel shows a quick summary. You may see new orders, new customers, and your most recent sales. Use it for a fast daily check.
Use the Reports
- In VirtueMart, open the Reports menu, or open Orders and look for report options.
- Choose a date range. Set a start date and an end date.
- Pick how to group the data. Common choices are by day, week, month or year.
- Choose which order status to include. Shipped and confirmed orders show real sales.
- Click Show.
The report lists order counts, items sold and revenue for each period.
Numbers to watch
- Orders: How many purchases were made.
- Items sold: How many products left your shop.
- Revenue: The money earned in that time.
- Top products: Which items sell best, so you can stock more of them.
- Customers: How many people bought, and how many came back.
See orders in detail
- Click Orders in the VirtueMart menu.
- Use the filters at the top to narrow the list by status or date.
- Click an order number to see the items, customer and payment details.
Visitor statistics
VirtueMart does not track visitors who do not buy. For that, use a tool like Google Analytics. It shows where visitors come from, which pages they view, and where they leave.
Keep your data safe
Order data is private customer information. Share reports carefully. Take regular backups of your shop database. Ask Hostvento support if you are unsure how to back up.
