What are CubeCart and Softaculous?
CubeCart is software for running an online shop. You list products, and customers can buy them.
Softaculous is an installer in your control panel. It works like an app store. It copies the files and sets up the database for you. Ask Hostvento support whether Softaculous is on your plan.
Before you start
- Make sure your domain points to your hosting.
- Choose a strong admin password.
- Have a working email address ready.
Steps
- Log in to your hosting control panel. Your welcome email has the details. The client area can also help you find it.
- Open Softaculous Apps Installer.
- Type CubeCart in the search box and press Enter.
- Click the CubeCart icon.
- Click Install Now.
- Under Choose Protocol, pick
https://if your site has an SSL certificate. An SSL certificate makes the connection safe. - Pick the Choose Domain you want to use.
- Clear the In Directory box to install on the main address. Or type a folder name like
store. - Type your Store Name if the form asks for one.
- Enter the Admin Username, Admin Password and Admin Email.
- Pick your language.
- Click Install.
- Wait until the bar reaches 100 percent. Softaculous then shows two links: one to the shop and one to the admin area.
Tip: Softaculous can email you the install details. Type your email in the box near the bottom of the form.
After the install
- Open the admin link and log in.
- Add your store details and your first product.
- Open your shop address to see how it looks.
Some CubeCart versions ask you to remove a setup folder after install. Softaculous usually does this for you. If the admin page warns about it, follow the message.
Quick recap
- Open Softaculous in your control panel.
- Search for CubeCart and click Install Now.
- Fill in the domain, folder and admin details.
- Click Install and save your admin link.
