What is a theme?
A theme is a set of files that sets how your shop looks. It controls colors, fonts and where things sit on the page. PrestaShop is free software for building online shops. Themes come as one ZIP file. A ZIP file is a folder squeezed into one small file.
Before you start
- Get the theme ZIP from the seller or the official PrestaShop add-ons site.
- Check that it supports your PrestaShop version.
- Take a backup of your shop files and database first.
Steps
- Log in to your PrestaShop admin area.
- In the left menu, click Design.
- Click Theme & Logo.
- Click Add new theme.
- Choose Import from your computer.
- Click the file box and pick your theme ZIP.
- Click Next and wait for the upload.
- When the theme is imported, click Finish.
- On the Theme & Logo page, find your new theme.
- Click Use this theme.
- Confirm if PrestaShop asks you.
The Add new theme button may look a little different in other versions. If you cannot find it, look at the top of the Theme & Logo page.
Check your shop
- Open your shop in a new browser tab.
- Press Ctrl and F5 to reload it fully.
- Look at the home page, a product page and the cart.
If the theme does not show
- Go to Advanced Parameters and then Performance. Click Clear cache.
- Check that the theme matches your PrestaShop version.
- If the upload fails, the ZIP may be too big. Ask Hostvento support to check the upload limit.
Tip: Some themes need extra modules. Read the seller's guide, and install what it asks for.
