Change the Language in Softaculous

This guide shows you how to switch the Softaculous screens to a language that you read more easily.

What is Softaculous?

Softaculous is a tool in cPanel that installs apps such as WordPress with a few clicks. cPanel is the control panel, a web page where you manage your hosting. By default, Softaculous may show in English. It supports many other languages for its own menus and buttons.

This changes only the Softaculous screens. It does not change the language of the apps you install. Ask Hostvento support if Softaculous is on your plan.

Steps

  1. Log in to cPanel from your client area.
  2. Open Softaculous Apps Installer. You can find it in the Software section, or by typing Softaculous into the search box.
  3. Look at the top right of the Softaculous page.
  4. Click the gear icon, which is the settings icon.
  5. Choose the language from the list. The names are shown in their own language, so you can spot yours.
  6. Click Save if you see a save button. The page then reloads in the new language.

In some versions, the language list is on the main page, near the top right. Look for a small box with a language name or a flag.

Change the language of an app

When you install an app, the install form has a Select Language box. This sets the language that the new app will use.

  1. Click the app you want to install.
  2. Click Install Now.
  3. Scroll to Choose Language or Select Language.
  4. Pick the language from the list.
  5. Finish the install.

For apps that are already installed, such as WordPress, change the language inside the app. In WordPress, go to Settings, then General, and look for Site Language.

If you picked the wrong language

If the screen is in a language you cannot read, look for the same gear icon at the top right. The icons stay in the same place in all languages. Open it and choose English or your own language again.

Tip: The cPanel language is a different setting. Change it from the cPanel home page, under your user menu, if you want the whole control panel to change.

Quick recap

  • Open Softaculous from cPanel.
  • Click the gear icon at the top right.
  • Pick a language and save.
  • Choose the app language separately when you install.
