What are Softaculous emails?
Softaculous is a tool in cPanel that installs website apps such as WordPress. cPanel is the control panel where you manage your hosting. Softaculous can send you a message when you install an app, take a backup, or update an app. These are called notifications.
Sometimes you get too many emails. Sometimes you want them sent to a different address. You can change both in the settings.
Steps
- Log in to your Hostvento client area at https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php.
- Open Services and choose your hosting plan.
- Click the button to log in to cPanel.
- Find the Softaculous Apps Installer section. Open it.
- Look for a gear icon or a Settings link near the top right. Click it.
- Open the Email Settings area. The exact name can differ a little between versions.
- Type the email address where you want messages sent. Use an address you check often.
- Choose which events should send an email. These can include new installs, backups and updates. Tick the ones you want. Untick the ones you do not want.
- Click Save or Save Settings.
How to check it works
- Make a small change that triggers an email, such as a backup.
- Wait a few minutes.
- Look in your inbox. Also look in your spam folder.
Spam is a folder for junk or suspicious mail. Good mail sometimes lands there by mistake. If you find a Softaculous email there, mark it as Not spam.
If nothing arrives
- Check the address for spelling mistakes.
- Check that the events you need are ticked.
- Check that your own mailbox is not full.
- Open a support ticket at https://secure.hostvento.com/submitticket.php and tell us what you tried.
Not every plan has the same Softaculous features. Ask Hostvento support if you cannot find a setting.
Quick recap

- Go to the settings and find the email options.
- Set your email address and choose which events to be told about.
- Save, then test with a small action.
- Check spam if the emails do not show up.
