What is a plugin?
A plugin is a small add-on for WordPress. It adds a new skill to your site, like adding an app to a phone. WPvivid adds the skill of making backups. A backup is a safe copy of your site.
Install WPvivid
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to Plugins, then Add New Plugin.
- Search for WPvivid Backup.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
Make a backup
- In the left menu, click WPvivid Backup.
- Open the Backup & Restore tab.
- Choose Database + Files (WordPress Files). This saves everything.
- Choose Save Backups to Localhost. This keeps the backup on your hosting account.
- Click Backup Now.
- Wait until the progress bar finishes.
- Go to the Backups list. Click Download and save the files on your computer.
Tip: A backup kept only on the same server is not fully safe. Always keep a copy on your own computer.
Restore a backup
Warning: Restoring replaces your current site with the old copy. Anything new you added since the backup will be lost. If you can, make a fresh backup first.
- Go to WPvivid Backup and then Backup & Restore.
- Find the backup in the list. If it is only on your computer, use the Upload tab to add the files first.
- Click Restore beside the backup.
- Read the notice. Then click Restore again to confirm.
- Wait for the finished message. Then open your site and check it.
If something goes wrong
If the restore stops, do not keep clicking. Take note of the error and open a support ticket with Hostvento.

- Back up with Backup Now and download the files.
- Restore with the Restore button. This replaces your current site.
