What do these words mean?
Root access means you are the main administrator of the server. You can change anything, so be careful.
JetBackup is a backup tool made by another company. It stores backups in its own way. cPanel format is a backup file (a cpmove or backup archive) that cPanel and WHM can restore. Converting helps when you move to a server that does not use JetBackup.
Ask Hostvento support whether JetBackup is on your plan.
The easy way: download a cPanel-style backup
Many JetBackup versions can make a downloadable account backup in a cPanel-compatible form. Exact names change between versions, so look for these words instead of guessing.
- Log in to WHM as root.
- Search for JetBackup in the WHM search box and open it.
- Go to the backups or restore area. Find the account you need.
- Choose the backup date you want.
- Look for a download option for the full account. Choose a cPanel-compatible type if offered.
- Wait for the file to be built. Then download it.
Using the file on a new server
- Upload the backup file to the new server. A common place is
/home. - In WHM, search for Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account and use it, if your version has it.
- Or restore from the command line. Replace the file name with yours:
/scripts/restorepkg /home/cpmove-username.tar.gz
This command restores one account from a backup file.
- Wait for it to finish. Read the last lines for errors.
- Open the site and check that it works.
Warnings
- Take a backup of the target server first.
- Restoring an account with the same username as an existing one can overwrite it.
- Check free disk space first. A big backup needs room to unpack.
