Windows phones are old now. Newer phones and apps work in a similar way. The same details are needed, even if the screens look different.
What you need first
- Your full email address, such as
name@yourdomain.com. - Your email password.
- Your incoming and outgoing mail server names. Your welcome email lists them. In cPanel, open Email Accounts and click Connect Devices.
The incoming server is the computer your phone asks for new mail. The outgoing server is the computer that carries mail you send.
Steps
- On the start screen, tap the Mail app. You can also open Settings and then Email & accounts.
- Tap Add account. In the Mail app, you may open the menu first and tap Accounts.
- Choose Advanced setup.
- Choose Internet email.
- Fill in the form with these values.
- Account name: any name you like.
- Your name: the name people see on mail you send.
- Incoming email server: your incoming server name, followed by a colon and the port if needed.
- Account type: IMAP4 is best. It keeps mail on the server.
- User name: your full email address.
- Password: your email password.
- Outgoing (SMTP) email server: your outgoing server name.
- Tick Outgoing server requires authentication. This means the server asks you to log in before it sends your mail.
- Tick Use the same user name and password for sending email.
- Tick Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email. SSL protects your mail while it travels.
- Tap Sign in or Save.
Tip: Use the port numbers from your welcome email. The usual numbers with SSL are
993 for IMAP and 465 for sending. If it does not work
- Try your login in webmail to prove the password is right.
- Check the server names for spelling mistakes.
- Use the full email address as the user name.
- Some old phones do not support the newest security. Ask Hostvento support what your plan allows.
