What is webmail?
Webmail is a way to read and send email inside a web browser. You do not need an email program on your computer. It works like Gmail, but for your own domain name.
cPanel is the control panel for your hosting. It is the place where you manage files, databases and email accounts. You use it to make settings. You do not need it just to read mail.
Before you start
- You need an email account that already exists, such as
info@yourdomain.com. - You need the password of that email account. This is not your cPanel password.
Steps
- Open your web browser.
- Type your domain name followed by
/webmailin the address bar. For example:yourdomain.com/webmail. - Press Enter. A login page opens.
- In the username box, type your full email address, such as
info@yourdomain.com. - Type the password of that email account.
- Click Log in.
- Pick a webmail program if cPanel shows you a list. Roundcube is a simple and popular choice.
Your inbox now opens. You can read, write and reply to messages.
Another way to reach the same page
Some servers also accept the address with a port number. A port is like a door number on a server. Webmail often uses door 2096.
https://yourdomain.com:2096
This opens the same login page. If it does not load, use the first method. You can also ask Hostvento support for the right address for your service.
If the login fails
- Check that you typed the full email address, not only the part before the @ sign.
- Check that Caps Lock is off.
- If you forgot the password, reset it in cPanel under Email Accounts.
- If your domain is new, wait a few hours. A new domain may not be live yet.
Quick recap
- Webmail lets you use email in a browser.
- Go to
yourdomain.com/webmail. - Log in with your full email address and its own password.
- You do not need to open cPanel.
- If it fails, check the address and password, or open a ticket at Hostvento support.
