What is webmail?
Webmail lets you read and send email in a web browser. You do not need a mail program. Think of it like using a site to check your post. If it fails, the cause is often small and easy to fix.
Check these things in order
- Check your internet. Open another website. If it does not load, your connection is the problem.
- Check the web address. Make sure there is no spelling mistake. Your welcome email shows the right address.
- Check your user name. It is usually your full email address, like
name@yourdomain.com. - Check your password. Type it slowly. Make sure Caps Lock is off. Passwords are case sensitive, so capital letters matter.
- Try another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Or open a private window.
- Clear the browser cache and cookies. The cache is a store of saved page parts. Old ones can break pages. In your browser settings, find Clear browsing data.
- Turn off browser add-ons for a minute. Ad blockers can break webmail pages.
- Try from another device or network, such as your phone on mobile data. This shows if your own network is blocking it.
If the login fails
- Log in to your client area.
- Open your hosting service and go to the control panel.
- Find Email Accounts.
- Reset the password of that mailbox.
- Try webmail again with the new password.
Other possible causes
- The mailbox is full. A full mailbox can cause errors. Delete old mail or ask for more space.
- Your domain name has expired or its DNS is wrong. DNS is the internet phone book for domains. Check your domain in the client area.
- Too many wrong password tries can block your IP address for a while. Wait some time, then try again.
