What are cPanel and File Manager?
cPanel is the control panel of your hosting account. It is a web page, like a dashboard, where you manage your site, email and more. File Manager is a tool inside cPanel. It works like the folders on your computer, but it shows the files of your website.
You can use it to upload, edit, move, zip and delete files. You do not need any extra program.
Steps: from the client area
- Open the Hostvento client area in your browser.
- Log in with your email and password.
- Click the Services menu, then My Services.
- Click your hosting plan.
- Look for a button such as Login to cPanel. Click it. If it is not there, use the cPanel link and details in your welcome email.
- Wait for cPanel to open.
- Scroll to the Files section, or type "File Manager" in the search box at the top.
- Click File Manager. It opens in a new tab.
What you will see
- A folder tree on the left.
- A file list on the right.
- A toolbar on top with buttons like + File, + Folder, Upload, Download, Delete and Extract.
Your website files are usually inside the public_html folder. Double-click it to open.
Show hidden files
Some important files, such as .htaccess, start with a dot and stay hidden. To see them:
- Click Settings at the top right of File Manager.
- Tick Show Hidden Files (dotfiles).
- Click Save.
Warning: take care with deleting or editing files. A wrong change can break your site. Make a backup first.
Tip: Save the cPanel link in your browser bookmarks so you can reach it quickly next time.
If you cannot log in
- Check the username and password for typing mistakes.
- Make sure your hosting service is active in the client area.
- Open a support ticket for help.
