Try an App Demo in Softaculous

What is an app demo?

A demo is a ready-made sample of an app that you can click around in. You do not install anything. It is like test-driving a car before you buy it. Softaculous is a tool in cPanel that installs apps such as WordPress, Joomla or online shops. Most apps on its list have a demo page, so you can see how the app looks and works.

cPanel is the control panel where you manage your hosting. Ask Hostvento support if Softaculous is on your plan.

Steps

1. Log in to cPanel from your client area.
2. Click Softaculous Apps Installer. It sits in the Software section, or you can search for it.
3. On the left, pick a category such as Blogs, Portals/CMS or E-Commerce. You can also type a name in the search box at the top.
4. Click the name of the app you want to test.
5. On the app page, you see tabs such as Install, Overview, Features, Demo, Ratings, Reviews and Import.
6. Click the Demo tab.
7. Click the link or button to open the demo. It opens a sample site in a new browser window.

What to look at in a demo

• How the front page looks to visitors.
• How the admin area works. Some demos give you a sample login to try.
• If the menus and tools are easy to understand.
• If the features match your needs.

Good to know

• A demo is a shared sample. Do not type personal details.
• Changes you make in a demo are not saved for your own site. Many demos reset every few hours.
• Some apps do not have a demo. The tab may be missing in that case. Read the Overview and Features tabs instead.
• The demo is hosted by the app's makers, so it may look a little different on your own site after you install and add a theme.

Next step

Like what you see? Go back to Softaculous and click the Install tab. Fill in the form and click Install.

Quick recap

• A demo lets you try an app without installing it.
• Open the app page in Softaculous and click the Demo tab.
• Look at both the visitor side and the admin side.
• Install the app only after you are happy.
