Reinstall an App in Softaculous

What does reinstalling mean?

Softaculous is a tool that installs website apps for you. When you reinstall, you put the app back from the start. It is like wiping a whiteboard clean and drawing again.

Before you start

• Back up your files and database.
• Write down the folder where the app lives.
• Think about whether you need a reinstall. Sometimes a restore from a backup is simpler.

Steps

1. Log in to cPanel from your Hostvento client area at https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php.
2. Open Softaculous Apps Installer.
3. Click the All Installations icon. It looks like a list.
4. Find the app you want to reinstall.
5. Remove the old install. Click the red cross or the Remove icon on that row. Tick the options to delete files and the database only if you are sure and have a backup.
6. Click Remove Installation to confirm.
7. Go back to the Softaculous home screen and click the app name, for example WordPress.
8. Click Install Now.
9. Choose the protocol, domain and folder. The protocol is the start of the web address, such as https. If the app should sit on the main page, leave the folder box empty.
10. Type a site name, an admin username and a strong password. Save these details somewhere safe.
11. Enter your email address.
12. Click Install and wait for the success message.

After the reinstall

Your site will look empty. If you have a backup, you can restore your content. For WordPress, many people re-add their theme and plugins. A plugin is a small add-on that gives a site extra features.
