How to Search for Apps in Softaculous

What is Softaculous?

Softaculous is a tool inside cPanel. cPanel is the dashboard where you manage your hosting. Softaculous installs apps for you with a few clicks. A "script" is another name for an app, such as WordPress, a forum or an online shop.

Open Softaculous

1. Log in to your client area at https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php.
2. Open your hosting service and log in to cPanel.
3. Scroll down and click Softaculous Apps Installer. You can also type "Softaculous" in the cPanel search box.

Method 1: Use the search box

1. Look at the top of the Softaculous page. You will see a box that says Search.
2. Type a word, like blog, shop or the app's name.
3. Results appear as you type.
4. Click the app you want.
5. Click Install Now to start the setup.

Method 2: Browse by category

1. Look at the left menu.
2. Click a group, such as Blogs, Portals/CMS, Forums or E-Commerce. CMS means content management system, a tool for managing a website's pages.
3. Browse the list that opens and click an app to read about it.

Method 3: Use the home page lists

The main page shows popular apps as icons. Click an icon to open that app's page. This is quick if you want something common, like WordPress.

Search tips

• Search by the app's name if you know it.
• Search by the job, like "photo", "forum", "wiki" or "booking", if you do not.
• Try a shorter word if you see no results.
• Check the spelling.

If you cannot find an app

The list depends on what is set up on your server. Some apps may not be on your plan. Ask Hostvento support if an app you need is missing, through a support ticket.

Quick recap

• Open Softaculous from cPanel.
• Type in the search box at the top, or browse the left menu.
• Click an app to read about it.
• Click Install Now when you find the right one.
