Install Postman on Ubuntu 22.04

Step 1: Update the system

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -y

Step 2: Install snapd

Ubuntu normally has Snap installed. If it is not:

sudo apt install snapd -y

Step 3: Install Postman

sudo snap install postman

Step 4: Start Postman

Open it from the applications menu, or from a terminal:

postman

On the first start, create a free account or choose to skip sign-in. You can then send your first request: enter an address such as https://api.github.com, choose GET and click Send.

Uninstall Postman

sudo snap remove postman

Notes

• Postman needs a desktop. On a server without a screen, use curl or the Postman CLI (Newman).
• Snap packages update by themselves.

Quick recap

• sudo snap install postman.
• Start it with postman.
• Remove it with sudo snap remove postman.
