What are display options?

WooCommerce is a free plugin that turns WordPress into an online shop. A plugin is an add-on that gives your site a new feature. Display options decide what shoppers see on the shop page and category pages. They decide how many products show, in what order, and what the page lists first.

The Customizer is a screen where you change your site's look and see the result live. Most display options live there. Block themes may use a different editor.

Steps

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance and click Customize.
  3. Click WooCommerce.
  4. Click Product Catalog.
  5. Under Shop page display, choose what the shop page shows. You can show products, categories, or both.
  6. Under Category display, choose what each category page shows.
  7. Pick the Default product sorting. For example, by popularity, by newest, or by price.
  8. Set the number of Products per row.
  9. Set the number of Rows per page.
  10. Click Publish.

Product images

  1. In the same WooCommerce menu, click Product Images.
  2. Choose the Main image width and the thumbnail size.
  3. Pick the Thumbnail cropping style. A square crop gives a tidy grid.
  4. Click Publish.

Other places to check

  • Go to WooCommerce, Settings, Products to set the shop page and some weight and review options.
  • Go to WooCommerce, Settings, Products, and then Inventory to control how stock shows.

If you use a block theme, you may not see Customize. Use Appearance and Editor instead. Open the shop template and edit the product blocks there.

Tip: Some themes add their own shop layout settings. They may override what you pick in WooCommerce. Check your theme's options too.

Quick recap

  • Open Appearance, Customize, WooCommerce.
  • Use Product Catalog for the layout and sorting.
  • Use Product Images for picture sizes.
  • Click Publish to save.
