Why renew?
A domain is your website's name, like example.com. You do not buy it forever. You rent it for a set time, often a year or more. This time is called the registration period.
If you do not renew in time, the domain can stop working. Your website and email on that name stop too. After some time, someone else may be able to buy it.
Steps
- Go to https://secure.hostvento.com/clientarea.php and log in.
- Click the Domains menu.
- Click My Domains.
- Find the domain you want to renew.
- Click the menu or the arrow button at the end of its row, and choose Manage Domain.
- Look for Renew in the left menu or in the options. Click it.
- Pick how long you want to renew for, if choices are shown.
- Click Add to Cart, then Checkout.
- Choose your payment method and finish the order.
The price is shown in the cart before you pay. Check it there.
After you pay
- Open Billing and then Invoices.
- Check that the invoice shows as Paid.
- Go back to My Domains. The expiry date should now be later.
The date can take a short while to update.
Good habits
- Renew a few weeks before the date, not on the last day.
- Keep the contact email on your account correct. Reminder emails go there.
- Check your spam folder for reminders.
What if it already expired?
Many domains have a short grace period after the date. Rules differ by domain type. You may need to pay an extra fee. Open a ticket at https://secure.hostvento.com/submitticket.php and ask Hostvento support what is possible for your domain.
Tip: You may not see a renew button very early before the end date. If so, come back closer to the expiry date or ask support.
