What is CyberPanel?

CyberPanel is a control panel. A control panel is a web page where you manage your server with clicks instead of typed commands. You can add websites, email and databases with it. It uses a web server called OpenLiteSpeed.

This guide needs root access. Root is the all-powerful admin user on a server. VPS and dedicated server customers have it. Shared hosting customers do not.

Warning: Install CyberPanel on a fresh, empty server. Other control panels or web servers on the same machine can clash with it. Take a backup if the server holds data.

Before you start

  • Use a fresh server with a supported system, such as Ubuntu or AlmaLinux. Check the CyberPanel website for the current list.
  • Have your server IP address and root password. They are in your welcome email.
  • Make sure the server has enough memory. A small amount of RAM can make the install fail.

Steps

  1. Open a terminal on your computer. On Windows you can use PowerShell or PuTTY.
  2. Connect to your server with SSH. SSH is a safe way to type commands on a remote server. Replace the IP with yours:
    ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP
  3. Update the system packages. On Ubuntu type:
apt update && apt upgrade -y
This refreshes the software list and installs updates.
  4. Run the CyberPanel installer:
    sh <(curl https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh || wget -O - https://cyberpanel.net/install.sh)
This downloads the install script and starts it.
  5. The script asks questions. Choose 1 to install CyberPanel.
  6. Choose the free OpenLiteSpeed option if you are unsure.
  7. Answer Y to install the full set of extras, or N to keep it light.
  8. Pick a password for the admin user. You can choose your own or let it make one.
  9. Wait. The install can take several minutes.
  10. When it ends, write down the login details it shows. Restart the server if it asks.

Log in to CyberPanel

  1. Open your browser and go to https://YOUR_SERVER_IP:8090.
  2. Your browser may warn about the certificate. This is normal on a new install. Continue anyway.
  3. Log in with the user admin and your password.
Tip: Make sure port 8090 is open in your firewall. Without it the login page will not load.

Stuck? Open a support ticket.

Quick recap

  • CyberPanel is a control panel for managing websites.
  • You need root access and a fresh server.
