Why use a coming soon page?

A coming soon page is like a sign on a shop door that says "Opening soon". Visitors see a friendly message instead of an error. It also tells search engines that your site exists.

The idea in short

Your domain must point to your hosting. Then you place a simple page named index.html in the folder called public_html. That folder holds the files visitors see.

Step 1: Point your domain to your hosting

  1. Find the nameservers in your welcome email.
  2. Log in to the client area.
  3. Click Domains, then My Domains.
  4. Next to your domain, choose Manage Nameservers.
  5. Enter the nameservers and save.

This can take up to 48 hours to work everywhere.

Step 2: Create the page

  1. On your computer, open a plain text editor such as Notepad.
  2. Paste the sample below.
  3. Save the file with the name index.html. Make sure it does not end in .txt.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Coming Soon</title>
</head>
<body style="text-align:center;font-family:Arial;margin-top:20%">
<h1>Coming Soon</h1>
<p>Our new website is on its way. Please check back soon.</p>
</body>
</html>

This is a very small web page with a title and a message. You can change the words.

Step 3: Upload it

  1. Log in to your hosting control panel, such as cPanel.
  2. Open File Manager.
  3. Open the public_html folder.
  4. Click Upload and choose your index.html.
Warning: If public_html already has an index.html, uploading will replace it. Download a copy first.

Step 4: Test

Open your domain in a browser. You should see your message. If you see an old page, press Ctrl and F5.

Later, when your site is ready

Delete or rename the coming soon index.html. Then upload your real site files.

Quick recap

  • A coming soon page is a friendly placeholder.
  • Point your domain to your hosting first.
  • Save a small page as index.html and upload it to public_html.
  • Replace it when the real site is ready.
