What are webmail and Outlook?
Webmail means reading email in a web browser. You do not install anything. Outlook is a program on your computer that also reads email. It keeps your messages in one place, like a post box on your desk.
Part 1: Open webmail
- Open your browser.
- Type your domain followed by
/webmail. For example,yourdomain.com/webmail. - Type your full email address as the username, like
hello@yourdomain.com. - Type your email password.
- Click Log in.
- Choose a webmail program such as Roundcube or Horde if the page asks.
If you forgot the password, ask your hosting control panel to reset it, or contact Hostvento support.
Part 2: Add the account to Outlook
You need these details from your welcome email or your control panel: the incoming mail server, the outgoing mail server and the ports. A port is a numbered door the mail uses. If you cannot find them, ask Hostvento support.
- Open Outlook.
- Click File, then Add Account.
- Type your email address and click Advanced options.
- Tick Let me set up my account manually.
- Click Connect.
- Choose IMAP. IMAP keeps your mail on the server so you can see it from many devices. POP3 downloads mail to one computer.
- Type the incoming server and port.
- Type the outgoing server and port. Choose the encryption type shown in your mail settings.
- Click Next and enter your password.
- Click Connect, then Done.
Tip: Outlook menus change between versions. Newer and older versions work in a similar way. Look for "Add account" and "Manual setup".
If it does not work
- Use your full email address as the username.
- Check that the password is correct. Try it in webmail first.
- Check that the server names and ports match your mail settings.
- Make sure your internet connection is working.
Quick recap
- Webmail lives at
yourdomain.com/webmail. - Log in with your full email address and password.
- For Outlook, use manual setup and choose IMAP.
- Get server details from your welcome email or support.
