What is Backup Manager?
A backup is a spare copy of your website data. Backup Manager is the Plesk tool that makes, stores and restores those copies. It is like a photo album of your site. If something goes wrong, you open an old photo and bring it back.
Create a backup now
- Log in to Plesk.
- Click Websites & Domains.
- Click Backup Manager for your domain. If you cannot find it, look for Backup & Restore.
- Click Back Up.
- Choose the type. Full backup copies everything. An incremental backup copies only what changed since the last one, so it is smaller.
- Choose what to include: files, databases, mail, or all of them.
- Add a short note, like "before theme update".
- Click OK.
- Wait until the status says the backup has finished.
Plan automatic backups
- Open Backup Manager.
- Click Scheduled Backup Settings.
- Tick Activate this backup task.
- Choose how often, for example daily or weekly.
- Choose how many old backups to keep. Old ones use disk space.
- Click OK.
Restore from a backup
Warning: a restore replaces current files and data with the saved copy. Changes made after the backup will be lost. Make a new backup first if you are unsure.
- Open Backup Manager.
- Click the backup you want in the list.
- Click Restore.
- Choose to restore everything, or only chosen items.
- Click OK and wait for the success message.
Keep a copy away from the server
Download the backup using the download icon. Store it on your computer. If the server has a big problem, a local copy will still be there. Ask Hostvento support if remote storage or other backup tools are on your plan.
