What are website statistics?
Website statistics count your visitors. They show numbers like visits per day, popular pages and where visitors come from. It is like a shop counter that clicks each time someone walks in.
Plesk is a control panel, a web page where you manage your hosting. It can build statistics from your server's log files. A log file is a diary the server keeps about each visit.
Steps
- Log in to Plesk.
- Click Websites & Domains.
- Find your domain.
- Click Web Statistics. In some versions it is under Statistics or Logs & Statistics.
- If you see a password box, enter your Plesk login details.
- Pick a month or day from the report.
If the report is empty
- Go to Hosting Settings for your domain.
- Look for the Web statistics drop-down.
- Choose a tool, such as Webalizer or AWStats. Your server decides which are available.
- Tick the option to keep the statistics accessible through a web address, if shown.
- Click OK.
- Wait a day. The first report needs time to build.
What to look at
- Visits: how many times people came to your site.
- Pages: how many pages they opened.
- Hits: every file request, including images. This number is always larger than visits.
- Top pages: your most popular content.
- Referrers: the sites that sent people to you.
Tip: Server statistics also count robots, such as search engine crawlers. Numbers may be higher than tools like Google Analytics.
