What is Zamfoo?

Zamfoo is a paid add-on made by another company. It adds extra tools to WHM, the control panel used by resellers and server owners. Its tools include reports on disk and bandwidth use, reseller controls, backup helpers and more. Think of it as an extra toolbox that you attach to WHM.

Hostvento does not make Zamfoo. Ask Hostvento support whether it is allowed or already available on your plan. It normally needs a VPS or dedicated server, because installing it needs root access. Root is the all-powerful admin user of a server.

Before you start

  • Buy a licence from the Zamfoo company. A licence is permission to use the software.
  • Take a full server backup. An install changes the system.
  • Have your root login for SSH. SSH is a safe way to type commands on a server.
  • Check that your server runs a version of cPanel that Zamfoo supports. Read the Zamfoo notes.

Steps

  1. Log in to the server as root with an SSH program such as PuTTY, or the Terminal on a Mac.
  2. Go to a working folder:
cd /root

This moves you to the root user's home folder.

  1. Download the installer using the exact command shown in your Zamfoo account. It looks like a wget command. The wget tool downloads a file from a web address. Do not guess the address. Copy it from Zamfoo.
  2. Run the installer with the command given by Zamfoo, for example:
sh zamfoo-installer.sh

This runs the install script. The real file name may differ.

  1. Follow any questions on screen.
  2. When it ends, log in to WHM. Look for a new Zamfoo menu in the left side bar.
  3. Enter your licence details if asked.
Tip: If anything fails, copy the error text. Send it to Zamfoo support or open a support ticket with Hostvento.
