What is IP Deny Manager?

An IP address is a number that identifies a device on the internet, like a home address for a computer. IP Deny Manager lets you list addresses that are not allowed to see your site. Anyone who visits from a blocked address sees an error page. You may use it to stop spammers, bad robots or people who try to hack you.

cPanel is the control panel where you manage your hosting. Your login is in your welcome email or your client area.

Steps to block an address

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. In the Security section, click IP Blocker. Some versions call it IP Deny Manager.
  3. In the box named Add an IP or Range, type the address you want to block.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Check the success message. The address now appears in the list of blocked addresses.

The examples use addresses made for demos. Use the real one that you want to block.

Steps to unblock an address

  1. Open IP Blocker again.
  2. Scroll to Currently-Blocked IP Addresses.
  3. Click Delete beside the address.
  4. Confirm if asked.

Be careful

  • Do not block your own address. You may lock yourself out of your site. To find your own address, search "what is my IP" in a browser.
  • Many home internet users share addresses that change. A block may stop the wrong person later.
  • Blocking a very large range may block real customers.
Tip: Look in your raw access logs to spot which addresses cause trouble before you block them.

Quick recap

  • Open IP Blocker in the cPanel Security section.
  • Type an address or range and click Add.
  • Remove blocks with Delete.
  • Never block your own address.
