How to Set Where Customer Support Requests Go in WHM

This guide explains the WHM setting that decides where your customers' help requests are sent. It is for resellers and server admins.

What is WHM?

WHM stands for WebHost Manager. It is the admin panel for a server. Resellers use it to manage customer accounts. A reseller is someone who sells hosting to their own customers.

What is the support request setting?

Your customers may click a help link in their cPanel. WHM lets you choose what happens next. The request can go to a web address you set, or to a contact you choose. This way, your customers reach you and not a stranger.

The exact names differ between WHM versions. Look in the Support section of WHM. Search for words like Customer Contact or Support.

Steps

  1. Log in to WHM. Use your reseller or root login from your welcome email.
  2. Type Support into the search box at the top left.
  3. Open the Support area. Look for options about customer contact or support requests.
  4. Read each option and its help text before you change it.
  5. Look for a place to enter the web address or email for your help desk. Enter the address your customers should use.
  6. Check the address carefully. A wrong letter sends requests nowhere.
  7. Click the save button, which may say Save or Save Changes.
  8. Test it. Log in to a test cPanel account and click the help or support link.
  9. Confirm that the request reaches the right place.
Tip: If you use the Hostvento client area, your own support tickets go through https://secure.hostvento.com/submitticket.php. That page is for your own account. Your customers need your own help desk address.

What if I cannot find it?

Reseller accounts may not show every option. The server owner can limit them. If a setting is missing, ask Hostvento support whether your plan allows it. Do not guess at settings.

Warning

Write down the old value before you change it. That way you can put it back if something breaks.
