What is a package?
A package is a ready-made set of limits for a cPanel account. It sets things like disk space, bandwidth and how many email accounts the account can have. You choose a package when you create an account in WHM (Web Host Manager).
Over time you may have packages you do not need any more. Deleting them keeps your list tidy.
Important to know first
Warning: WHM does not let you delete a package that accounts still use. Even if it did, the accounts could be left with mixed limits. Always move those accounts to another package first. Take a backup if the accounts are important.
Step 1: See which accounts use the package
- Log in to WHM.
- Click List Accounts.
- Look at the Package column. Note every account that uses the package you want to remove.
Step 2: Move the accounts
- Search for Modify an Account and open it.
- Choose one account and click Modify.
- Scroll to Package and pick a different package.
- Click Save.
- Repeat for each account.
Check that the new package has enough disk space and other limits for the account.
Step 3: Delete the package
- Search for Delete a Package and open it. It is under Packages.
- Choose the package in the list.
- Click Delete.
- Read the question that asks you to confirm.
- Click Yes or Delete.
The package is gone. This does not delete any accounts or websites.
Check
- Open Edit a Package.
- The deleted package should no longer be in the list.
If you use Hostvento hosting and need a plan changed, open a support ticket.
Quick recap
- Deleting a package removes only the saved set of limits.
- Move all accounts to another package first.
- Use Delete a Package in WHM to remove it.
- Accounts and websites stay safe.
